Cleaning as a courtesy
Before charging for a part, the port is cleaned. Often that is enough.

iPhone won't charge, or the cable doesn't fit? Help Cell checks the charging port at Floripa Shopping, replaces the connector when it is the problem, and returns your phone with a warranty.
The charging connector replacement for iPhone is the repair where the part at the bottom of the phone, the one the cable plugs into, is removed and replaced with a new one. It fixes an iPhone that won't charge, only charges in one position, or has a loose cable. Before replacing anything, Help Cell cleans the contacts as a courtesy, because dirt inside the port is the most common cause and often fixes it.
The charging connector is the metal and plastic part at the bottom of the iPhone where the cable plugs in. It carries power from the charger to the battery and, in many cases, data to a computer. Plugging and unplugging the cable every day slowly wears down the contacts in this part.
On many models the connector sits on a small flexible cable attached to the bottom of the iPhone, together with the microphone. That is why the replacement is done with the phone open, on the workbench, and the new part is tested with real charging before it is returned.
The iPhone 14 and older models use the small Lightning port, which fits in both directions. From the iPhone 15 on, the port is USB-C, the same as the cables of many Android phones and laptops. The port type changes the part, but the problem people bring to the store is the same: the cable won't connect.
These are different names for the same area of the phone. If you search for iPhone charging port, charging input or charging connector, you are looking for the part this page explains.
Many people think the iPhone stopped charging because the battery is dead. Sometimes that is true. Other times only the path for the power is blocked. The check tells the two cases apart before you pay for any part.
If you recognize one of these six signs, the charging port should be checked.
An iPhone that won't charge can have at least five possible causes, and only one of them requires replacing the part. Knowing which one is yours helps you avoid paying for a repair that won't fix it.
Dust, pocket lint and sand build up at the bottom of the port and push the cable away from the contacts. This is the most common cause, and contact cleaning fixes it. At Help Cell, it is done as a courtesy during the check.
Before opening the phone, try another cable and another outlet. A cable bent near the tip and a charger of unknown origin often fail and look like a connector problem.
When cleaning doesn't help, the contacts may be worn, bent by a forced cable, or corroded. In that case, replacing the connector is the solution.
A very worn battery can make the iPhone shut off, get stuck while charging, or not show the battery icon. The repair in that case is the iPhone battery replacement. See the signs in the guide When to replace the iPhone battery: signs and battery health.
If power reaches the connector but doesn't continue into the phone, the fault is on the logic board, the circuit that controls charging. It is more delicate work, done in the iPhone logic board repair.
Four steps, from your first message to the iPhone charging again.
Send the iPhone model and how it reacts when you plug in the cable.
The port is cleaned as a courtesy. Often the iPhone starts charging again.
If cleaning doesn't solve it, the technician confirms the fault and tells you the price of the part.
You see the iPhone charging at the store and take it back with a warranty.
What you get with the repair and what is not included.
The price depends on the model and the type of port. That is why Help Cell does not publish a single price: send the model and what happens when you charge it, and you get the price for your case.
| Factor | How it affects the price | Example |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone model | Each generation uses a different part. | A connector for an iPhone 8 does not fit an iPhone 13. |
| Port type | Lightning and USB-C have their own parts and fittings. | iPhone 14 (Lightning) and iPhone 15 (USB-C). |
| Part shared with other items | On many models the connector shares the flexible cable with other components. | Connector and microphone on the same part. |
| Cause of the fault | If cleaning solves it, there is no part to replace. | Pocket lint stuck at the bottom of the port. |
| Other faults with the connector | A worn battery or a logic board fault adds to the service. | A drop that bent the port and damaged the battery. |
People who rush to replace the part sometimes waste money or damage the port. These are the details that make a difference.
Metal scratches and bends the contacts, and it can cause a short circuit. A simple cleaning turns into a damaged connector.
If the phone has touched liquid, don't plug in the cable. Moisture corrodes the contacts. The right path is the chemical cleaning for a wet iPhone.
Many iPhones go home with a new part they didn't need, because the cable was the problem. Test a cable in good condition before you bring the phone in.
If it charges with another cable, the connector is fine and the accessory was the problem.
Check for built-up dirt. Don't use any metal object: leave the cleaning to the store.
Replacing the connector does not erase data, but if the battery is low, use the chance to copy photos and contacts. Help Cell also does data backup.
An overview of which path usually fits each symptom. The check at the bench confirms it.
| Symptom | Contact cleaning | Connector replacement | Other repair |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cable doesn't go all the way in | Likely: dirt at the bottom | If the part is bent | Rare |
| Only charges in one position | May fix it | Likely: worn contacts | Rare |
| Slow charging | May fix it | Possible | Worn battery or bad cable |
| Shows no sign of charging | Worth trying first | Possible | Battery or logic board |
| Liquid alert | Not enough | Depends on the damage | Chemical cleaning |

Matheus looked after me very well! He was super attentive and managed to help me with my phone, which had dirt in the charging port. He fixed it quickly and explained everything clearly. Excellent service!
Efficient service on WhatsApp from Mykael and in the store from Josué. Excellent service! I took my phone in to replace the charging connector, but the technician checked it and, after a cleaning, found that the replacement was not necessary. The store did not charge for the cleaning either. Transparent, honest service and quality work. I recommend Help Cell!
