When an iPhone has no sound, the cause is usually one of three things: dirt blocking the sound outlet, a faulty speaker or microphone, or a problem on the logic board. What iPhone speaker and microphone replacement is
It is the repair where the part that makes or picks up the sound is tested and, if it is faulty, replaced with a new one. The iPhone does not have just one speaker: it has an earpiece speaker at the top and another speaker at the bottom, next to the charging port. It also has more than one microphone, in different spots on the body.
So "no sound" can mean very different things, and replacing the wrong part is money wasted. First, we find out where the fault is.
Earpiece speaker and bottom speaker
The earpiece speaker is the one pressed to your ear during a call. The bottom speaker plays music, ringtones, videos and speakerphone. If you can only not hear the other person when you press the iPhone to your ear, the suspect is the top speaker. If nothing plays at all, the suspect is the bottom speaker.
Microphones: who speaks and who picks up
The iPhone microphones are in different places: one at the bottom, one near the camera and one at the top, depending on the model. One of them can fail while the others keep working. That is why the sound is sometimes fine in a video and bad on a call, or the other way around.
When the problem is not the part
In some cases the speaker and the microphone are perfect, but the circuit that controls them, on the logic board, has failed. That repair is done with micro-soldering, and replacing the part will not help. Help Cell separates one from the other before it sets the price.

Quick tests to do before you bring in the iPhone
Five minutes of testing at home can prevent an unnecessary repair, and it also helps the technician. Do them in order and write down the result of each one.
Check that the iPhone is not on silent or connected to another device
Check the side switch for silent mode (on models that have one), the volume and Bluetooth. Many people think their iPhone is "muted" when it is actually sending the sound to headphones, a car or a speaker nearby.
Clean the sound outlet carefully
Dust, bits of case and pocket lint block the grilles. Use a soft, dry brush and go over them gently without pressing. Never use a needle, a toothpick or strong compressed air: that pushes the dirt inside and can tear the speaker membrane.
Test each sound separately
Record a voice memo in the notes app and play it back: this tests the microphone and the bottom speaker. Then make one call on speakerphone and one call without it. The test that fails in each case points to the faulty part.
Remove the case and the front screen protector
Cases that do not fit well and screen protectors that cover the earpiece grille muffle the sound. Take them off and test again before you decide the part is broken.

How much the iPhone sound repair costs

Common mistakes with an iPhone with no sound
Poking the grille with a needle or a toothpick
The dirt goes deeper, the membrane can be pierced, and a simple problem becomes a part replacement. Use only a soft, dry brush.
Replacing the part without testing each sound path
If the fault is on the logic board, the new part will also be silent. Testing the earpiece, speakerphone and microphone separately avoids this waste.
Drying a wet iPhone with a hair dryer or rice
Heat damages the part, and rice does not remove the moisture inside. Turn the device off and take it to chemical corrosion removal as soon as you can.
